A HAPPY!!! hello from the other side. All is well and we had a productive time in the gardens. All the cabbages, broccoli, and brussels sprouts went in….we planted long rows of carrots in the hoop houses. Seeded in bean seeds and lots of leafy greens direct seeded into hoop 1. Over 7000 onions were planted in two days and happy that job is behind us. Scott got all the irrigation set and the trellises are going up for the peas, and cucumbers and tomatoes. That heat was sure a surprise but the tomato and pepper plants sure loved it after the cold dark Spring. Life is good and we are rolling along.
SPRING SHARE #2

head lettuce-2, pac choi, baby kale mix, turnips, radish medley, spinach, pink spinach, pea shoots
Head lettuces-2 varieties this week. Butter heads that are just delicious and a treat as they only grow well in the cool temperatures of Spring and a crunchy summer crisp called Tropicana.

Pac choi-A great harvest from hoop 2. We love it raw in salads-delicious with oranges too. Surprisingly grilled is amazing…. Slightly wilted and charred with a drizzle of soy sauce.

Baby Kale Mix-This is the second cutting off the patch. We pull and then reseed. Love it sauted as a warm side and also added to fresh salads.

Turnips!-The Spring Time Treat. LOVE!!!! Only grows well in cool temps. The texture and flavor amazing. Enjoy raw or light stir fry.

Radishes-A mix again this week from our early planting.

Spinach-A great harvest again of this amazing crop. Early morning harvesting at 1st light to beat that heat.

Pink Spinach-So beautiful in salads and great with a quick saute.

Pea Shoots-Delicious pea flavor. Snip the stems and add to salads. Garnish, or wonderful slightly wilted in broth. Keep on a bright windowsill and water as needed. Compost after all the “snips” are gone.

BEST GUESS FOR NEXT WEEK-HEAD LETTUCE, TURNIPS, KOHLRABI, SPINACH AND MORE…..
