Again….I just have to say…our Favorite time of the year! The color is everywhere-beautiful! The bounty coming from the gardens amazing and those long season crops we waited so long for are here. We are happy and rested and enjoying the cool temperatures and our pace slows down just a bit. We continue to pull the squash and pumpkins from the field and dig potatoes. We decided to wait to grab the sweet potatoes-next week! But we did peek and they appear to be a best ever for us. Another long row of winter over spinach was transplanted in hoop 2 and lettuce continues to be transplanted into Hoop 1. This is the 1st week we did not seed in more lettuce rotation starts in the greenhouse. The season is winding down.

CSA #15

Head Lettuce-Another sweet beauty from Hoop 1.

Radishes-Fall radishes have a great crunch and a great flavor.

Beets-2 varieties. Roasted is our favorite.

Beans!-We are still harvesting our tricolor mix. A bit bigger this week as our scheduled pick was when that HUGE! rainstorm blasted through and with warm overnight temps they grew a bit larger by morning when we could get into the field.

Leeks-A great late season crop. Great flavor for potato leek soup or a hash.

Potatoes-The potato of the week is Peter Wilcox. A great all around potato-fry, boil, mash, bake. Great texture and flavor.

Squash-We now start “choose your squash”…Several varieties and size selection will be out for snack pack to choose 1 and full share to choose 1. Acorns, delicata, honey nut, autumn frost, carnival and more… Ornamental mini pumpkins out too just in case members are “squashed out” or just would like a bit of autumn cheer on their table this week.
Peppers-Italian fry peppers in all share and mini bells in Full only.
Thai Basil Plant-We had to do it as the flavor is fantastic with squash and curry. If members would rather snip the basil and bag…sheers will be on the table.

BEST GUESS FOR NEXT WEEK-SWEET POTATO BOUNTY!-2 VARIETIES, POTATO, SQUASH, ORNAMENTAL PUMPKIN, STORAGE ONIONS, CARROTS, HEAD LETTUCE, PEPPERS, SPINACH AND MORE….
3 shares remain to the summer CSA season…..
