We flipped the calendar to September and here we are-our favorite time of the season. The uncertainty of what this summer will be is behind us as we wind down to the end, the workload eases a bit, we sleep a tiny bit later, the temperatures are cooler and pumpkins and squash are ripening. The beauty of Autumn is here and the abundance of long season crops are just waiting to be pulled from the garden. We seeded in our last lettuce rotation in the greenhouse and we just might pick the first harvest of Fall spinach next week. It has been a strong happy summer for us and we feel great! Looking forward to digging some sweet potatoes next week just to peek at what might be under the best looking crop we have ever seen and there is nothing we love more than wandering through the squash patch and seeing what we find.

WHAT IS IN YOUR SHARE-HEAD LETTUCE, ASIAN GREENS MIX (FULL ONLY), SUNFLOWER BOUQUET, PURPLE POTATOES, TRI COLOR FILET BEAN MEDLEY, ITALIAN FRY PEPPERS, CHERRY TOMATOES, SLICE TOMATOES, EDAMAME, SPAGHETTI SQUASH, STORAGE ONIONS, ZUCCHINI, GARLIC
Head Lettuce-Sweet crunchy heads from hoop 1. The lettuce is loving the cooler temperatures. Just delicious.

Asian Greens mix (full only)-A snappy mix of asian greens. Fantastic in a fresh raw salad-A BIT SPICY TOO! Or we love as a side warm lightly pan tossed with a bit of garlic onion and olive oil.

Sunflower Bouquet-What a way to kick of the beauty of Autumn. Perfect timing to transition. HUGE! harvest of these happy beauties. We cut early every morning.

Purple potatoes-These are fantastic fried or mashed and also make a fun purple potato soup too. A favorite around here. We are thrilled they are back in the shares this year.

Beans!-They are back….3 varieties of filet. We planted a new variety to us-lavender and LOVE! them. So pretty and great flavor. Many weeks of beans to come.

Italian Fry Peppers-Great Sweet Flavor. We are still picking a little green as we are seeing sunburn on some of the peppers.
Cherry Tomatoes-This is the end of this tasty summer snack we think….the best of the best are gone. The texture and flavor changes too with the cooler temperatures. What a great run.

Slice tomatoes-This is probably the end too of our fantastic tomato season. Maybe som paste next week. Enjoy!

Edamame-This is our go to snack this time of year. We lightly steam and salt and then keep a big container chilling in the fridge and snack away. We also add to salads and tomato sauce.
Spaghetti Squash-1st squash of the season in the shares….we grew 3 different varieties and 1 is orange! Oven roast face down and scratch the squash out like noodles to enjoy with sauce.

Storage onions-These are the 1st of the storage onions we dried after harvest.

Summer Squash-This is the END! of the summer squash harvest. Congratulations on eating summer squash for many weeks in a row in every way we could all think to “use it up”. We will now move on to winter squash.
garlic-These are the smaller heads from the harvest.
BEST GUESS FOR NEXT WEEK-WINTER SQUASH, POTATOES, LETTUCE, BEETS, BEANS, PEPPERS, KALE MIX, SPINACH?????, AND MORE…..
