A bit of a delay in posting. HUGE! tomato harvest this morning…..
A fantastic week-again. Such a great season. Huge harvests. The morning cucumber crawl down the trellis lines are top priority and take forever. All plantings are producing now and the 1st is slowing down. We have sampled all the potato varieties in the field and will start huge harvests this weekend with the potato digger. I love that thing. We seeded in more spinach and tons of lettuce for Fall. We are going to try for a late quick carrot crop in hoop 2. Watermelons are showing color. Won’t be long now. The watermelons have reached the inside of the molds in our heart and square experiment.

Maybe a square watermelon? Fingers crossed
Morning are spent on a fast a furious harvest and then the afternoons are washing.

Pac Choi-I can’t help it I LOVE pac choi. I LOVE to grow it and I LOVE it in salads and broth. Maeve will eat a whole one as a snack. Enjoy!

Pac choi ready to harvest in Hoop 1.

Pretty Choi.

And a chilling triple rinse.
Corn!-We do not grow the corn. Scott’s relatives do. The amazing family at Raupp Family Farm in Reedsburg. It is conventionally grown not organic….When we have poled CSA members in the past if they would like corn from the Raupp Family it is always “Yes”. Enjoy. A treat for sure.

Corn fresh from the field.
Potatoes-This week’s wonder is Red Norland. Fantastic and we are thrilled with the yield.

Forking red norland so we do not damage the tender skin.

Gems!

Maeve loves to conduct field taste tests!
Cherry tomatoes-here we go!

We should have cherry tomatoes until frost. 22 varieties.
Slice tomatoes-A great start to the season….The patch looks strong. Heirlooms kicking in next week.

The 1st great white…a favorite.
Sweet Summer Onions-Store in refrigerator. Sweet flavor. The perfect burger onion. We spend hours cleaning these onions. Our best harvest EVER! A summer Staple.
Zucchini-The 1st patch is just starting to slow down but I think we we start picking the new patch by this weekend.
Cucumbers-An amazing cucumber year for us. We changed up our planting schedule 6 different start dates to extend the season. I think we will be cucumbered out by the time this season winds down.

Purple Filet Beans-I had hoped we would have a week break between green and purple beans. Not the case. Plants are loaded.

1st purple filet bean harvest.

Our every other day routine now that the nights are a bit cooler. Bean picking. Note-behind Scott we pulled the green bean crop from last week and our “hail mary” green bean planting next to that.
Shishito Pepper(full only)-A very thin walled pepper. Perfect for pan frying or grilling. Or delicious fresh eating as a snack. Not hot.
