A week that zipped by for us. Our days had clear focus of weed, water, harvest and repeat. Amazing growth in the garden with the hot days and warm nights. Daily visits to the cucumber and zucchini patches hauling out containers of produce. Hours were spent making our way down the long bean rows picking handfuls and handfuls of delicious beans. The Melons and Squash double in size over night and we would marvel.
Tomatoes have finally started ripening!!! and they will appear in some shares this week. Our warm season crops are loving these days. Every spare moment Scott was on weed patrol as the weeds too love these warm days and it is important to stay well ahead of them.
More lettuce was transplanted in the hoop house right after this weeks harvest came out and yet another long row of carrots went in. This carrot crop will be a sweet treat for the Winter Share as we snuggled 3 long rows in the hoop house for a late harvest after frost.
SUMMER SHARE #9
It’s another “Holy Cow” harvest week! Enjoy these Summer delights! 602 pounds of harvested produce this week. WOW!
SNACK PACK
Head lettuce-A juicy romaine from the hoop house. Delicious.
Summer Sweet Onions-A few of these tasty treats. A staple in your share for a few weeks to come. Keep in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator. These are not cured winter storage onions.
Cucumber Snacking Mix-An assortment of mini munchers and american pickling.
Long European Slicing Cucumber-These are just starting to produce on the vine. Skins are thin and tasty-no need to peel.
Mini Head Cabbage-Perfect mini heads for the snack pack. A great addition to salads or slaw.
Green Beans-Another harvest off the 1st planting. This will be the end of these bush green beans.
Dragon Tongue Beans-A treat! We pick these before the beans develop as an early harvest. Great flavor raw or steamed! These will appear later in the season again as a “shell out” with fresh beans.
Zucchini-Picked small and tender.
Basil!-A beautiful bundle to make a batch of pesto….and then some left over to enjoy with salads and sandwiches. LARGE green leaves. We grow our basil in the greenhouse so it is juicy and protected from those darn japanese beatles.
Garlic-We had to add another fresh just dug head for pesto. A great garlic harvest for us this year. We save our garlic and replant from year to year. 2 varieties-Music or German Red.
Jalapeno Pepper-These plants were loaded and needed an early pick.
Raspberries-BARABOO SNACK PACK ONLY THIS WEEK.
