We sure had a HOT! week here and a happy week too…
We are thrilled the tomatoes are hitting and the plants are heavy with green tomatoes ready to ripen. Looks to be a strong tomato year for sure.

Harvest duties were heavy this week but we did transplant out a rotation of fennel and also lettuce into hoop 2. Another row of carrots was seeded in and we started the Fall Spinach in cells in the greenhouse. How odd is that to be looking to Fall! And-speaking of Fall- we noticed that the 1st early variety of brussels sprouts is heading up and we snuck some off the bottom just for fun because who has brussels sprouts in July?!
We dug a second row of new baby reds on a cooler evening. A bounty and we had fun picking up the potatoes after the digger went through. Next up is the purple potatoes!

CSA #8

WHAT IS IN YOUR SHARE-head lettuce, cucumbers, English cucumbers, summer leeks, new baby red potatoes, summer squash, cherry tomatoes, lice tomato, broccoli side shoots, bell peppers, white ice radishes (full only).
Head lettuce-A delicious lettuce from hoop 2 this week with a sweet flavor and great crunch! We harvest right at sunrise to ensure a sweet flavor and the best quality.

Cucumbers-Tons! English, Pickling, and fresh slicers are harvested daily.

Leeks-We had to include these with the potato harvest. Best fried potatoes ever with leeks….These are a variety called King Richard and a summer leek-smaller in size than the huge Fall leeks.
Potatoes-We dug the whole row of this variety of new baby red. A new variety for us-Prarie Fire.

Summer Squash-Every morning! Amazing the haul we pull out of the summer squash patch. Enjoy this summer staple.

Cherry tomatoes-And here they come! Washed and ready to snack away. 18 varieties are out there this season. A diverse collection of flavors, shapes and colors.

Slice tomato-These beauties are just starting to show color….

Broccoli Side Shoots-These little gems are the side shoot production on the broccoli plants. They grow after we harvest the main head. Perfect for a stir-fry dish.

Bell Peppers-3 varieties are out in the field including mini bells….

White Ice Radishes-(Full Only) We had a little space open up in hoop 2 a few weeks back and not wanting it to sit vacant we seeded in a small section of radishes for summer salad treats!
BEST GUESS FOR NEXT WEEK-HEAD LETTUCE, CUCUMBERS, FLAT CABBAGE, SUMMER SQUASH, TOMATOES, CHERRY TOMATOES, COLLARD GREENS AND MORE….
